Disaster Relief

Whether we like it or not disasters do strike our state and the region around us. Since hurricane Katrina the state of Arkansas has continued to improve and expand its ability to react. Hunger relief is a major part of any disaster relief effort. The Alliance provides coordination and communication between its food bank members, their agencies and other volunteer organizations during times of disaster to help expedite the distribution of food and water to local communities in need.

The Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance is also a member of the Arkansas Volunteer Organizations Active in Disasters. The VOAD serves as the conduit to coordinate the hunger relief effort with other volunteer, state and federal efforts throughout the state during disasters.
